WHO CAN ENTER? A winery or sales agent can enter any domestic or imported table, sparkling, or fortified wine that is legally sold in B.C JUDGING: Our judges are carefully selected and include renowned wine experts, sommeliers, journalists and educators. PREVIOUS WINE COMPETITIONS: Vancouver magazine’s first six wine competitions were resoundingly successful, attracting over 4,000 entries from 16 countries. 2010 FACTS: • 78 of the 100 winning wines were priced at $25 and under, highlighting an emphasis on value. • 27 of the winning wines were made by BC wineries, including the Rosé and Dessert Best Of category winners. Plus, there were winning wines from 14 countries, with strong medal representation from Australia, Canada, Italy and Spain. • Best in Show winner was Beronia Reserva 2004 (Spain, $24.99). • Winners ranged in price from $9.99 (Antinori Tomaresca Paiara Red) to $62.99 (Pol Roger Brut NV). Reflecting British Columbia’s cutting-edge wine market, the winners were an eclectic mix which included big brands (Antinori, Concha y Toro, and Jackson-Triggs), esoteric specialties (Blason de Bourgogne, Vino Borges, and Feudi di San Gregorio) along with regional wines (Road 13 Vineyards Chenin Blanc, Hester Creek Trebbiano, and Burrowing Owl Meritage).
